We have 2 courses on which skiers will be doing laps. A 6.2 km course for everyone over 12 years old, and a 1.2 km course for kids 12 and under. Generally all skiers do all their laps on the same course, and the course skied is decided ahead of time by the category entered. Some of the more ambitious 12-and-unders who may be getting bored doing a lot of laps, have the option of skiing the long course and will get credit for 5 "kid laps". If they are doing a mixture of course laps they must tell the timers what they skied as they pass the timing table at the start/finish. Here is the access route to the venue, plus info on the 2 courses. Note that the stadium layout this year may be slightly different from the past 2 years (and from what the maps show) but will be in the same general location.
Getting to the Start/Finish ("Stadium") Area The access to the Nordic Network is at the east end of P5, on the south (lower) side, before you get to the Daycare. NB If you're walking, please hug the edge of the trail so as not to damage the trail grooming. Go down the slope, across the open area, to the far right corner, then take the first left and cross the small bridge. Continue on CottonTail and you'll see the Stadium area at the far end of the clearing. It's on the 12th Fairway if you're familiar with the Golf Course.
The 6.2 km Course Starting at the stadium area on the "Biathlon Loop", ski the McGillivray Lake Trail ("MLT"), keep left at the junction with Vista, then take the first right onto Bear Cub. At the top of Bear Cub merge onto Black Bear, and when you meet the McGillivray Lake trail, take a hard left and go back down towards En Garde. Turn right on En Garde and then take the first right onto upper Whiskey Jack. At the top of Whiskey Jack, cross McGillivray Lake Trail to the far side of the intersection onto Moose Track, ski to the end of Moose Track and turn right on to Great Grey. At the bottom of Great Grey go straight ahead through the large intersection (it will be marshalled, so you can feel free to keep up your speed). Cross the open intersection onto the twisty part of CottonTail. When you come out of the trees, keep left and swing around 180 degrees, then down across the little bridge. After the bridge, keep right and continue on CottonTail all the way back to the start finish area.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 1.2 km Course Start on MLT, same as the long course, then right on Vista past the bottom of Black Bear, right on CottonTail and continue back to the stadium as per the 6.2 km course.
