Important Day-of-Event Information for 2026 T-Rex Participants

Please read this information carefully. Registration closes at noon on Friday, March 6th. Sorry, we are unable to accept late entries. From P5 to the Start-Finish is about 250 metres. You can ski or walk this. Course maps and directions to the Start/Finish area are HERE.

A reminder that the Resort's insurance requirements dictate that all participants must be members of the Sun Peaks Nordic Club. Your entry  in the T-Rex doesn't automatically make you a member of SPNC, it must be done separately. If  you're already a member of another Nordiq Canada-affiliated club (eg Overlander), it only costs a few dollars to join SPNC. (Note that you sign up on Zone4 as a normal member but Zone4 doesn't give any indication of the discount until the checkout where you will see the fee is corrected.)  Join SPNC here.

Note that again this year, in the interests of simplicity, we will have no formal timing. It's laps that count, so rest assured that laps will be counted and kept track of by our timing team in order to determine category winners. Some of the more ambitious 12-and-unders who may be getting bored doing a lot of laps, have the option of skiing the long course and will get credit for 5 "kid laps". If they are doing a mixture of course laps, then as they pass the timing table at the start/finish, they must tell the timers which lap they skied .

Parents, feel free to accompany your child around the kids loop if desired. If this is all the skiing you're doing, you don't need to enter the event. If you are in the event for the big course with your bib on, please advise the timers as you finish, not to count your lap as it would be registered as a big lap.

                                                                       Timelines for the day:
8:30-9:30 am: Sign-in and bib pickup (note this is at the Start/Finish, which is a different location from last year).
9:45 am: Pre-Race announcements at the Start-Finish area. Important instructions about the event; all participants must attend!
10:00 am: Mass start. NB For relay teams, only the team member doing the first lap starts now.
1:00 pm: Event ends. For a lap to count, it must be completed before the 3 hours is up. Partial laps unfortunately do not count. Hint: Keep track of your approximate lap times so as time gets short, you'll have an idea of whether or not you have time to squeeze another one in.
1:30 pm (or sooner if we can): Awards and wrap up.
                                                                                       Things to know:
What to Bring:
  • Warm winter layers, and winter footwear (not just your x-c ski boots).
  • A folding chair to rest in, and sit in while changing footwear
  • Food to supply your needs throughout the day (there will be a feed station with high energy snacks for racers, but see the info below about food needs).
  • A backpack to transport your gear in to the Start-Finish area, and to stash clothing in while not in use
Whether you're on a Relay Team or Solo, there will be some down time before, during and after the event. If it's cold we'll have some propane fire rings to get warm by. There will be a feed table for skiers, plus some  post-event snacks, but please don't count on those to keep you fully fed and warm throughout the day.

Clothing Strategy: We don't recommend you de-layer and get fully ready to ski until after the pre-race announcements at the Start-Finish area. We'll make sure everyone has time to do this, we don't want people shivering on the start line! Teams will want to decide ahead of time who is doing the first lap, because if it's not you, you'll be starting skiing even later than the 10 am mass start.
Washrooms: Located at the Umbrella Cafe near the East Village Centre (AKA Nordic Centre). You can walk there via P5, or ski via CottonTail ski trail. Sorry, it's a bit of a hike, but will keep you warm getting there and back!
Trail passes: This is not included in your entry, so if you don't already have a Sun Peaks Resort Nordic Pass, these can be purchased at the East Village Centre (AKA Nordic Centre).
