March Strava Challenge- Ski for Socks! Congratulations to our March Challenge random draw prize winners Melissa, Doreen and Naomi. Congratulations also to the three fastest women and men who were (in order): Shauna, Arlene and Shannon, and Peter, Trent and Mike. Everyone won SPRTA socks just in time for bike season!
Thanks to everyone who participated in our Strava challenges this season, and thanks to Arlene for choosing such creative routes and organizing the event. We'll be doing it again next season starting again in December. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The March route is 15 kms long and essentially, we are just adding a piece onto the beginning and end of the February challenge. Also, because we're not having a Loppet this year, we're injecting a bit of a competitive element into this month's challenge by awarding prizes for the top 3 male and female finishers (in addition to the usual 3 random draw prizes). The challenge goes until March 31st. In order for us to see you to enter you in the draw, you must make the activity public (in the Menu for "Who Can See", click "Everyone"). Cruise it, race it, or stop for lunch along the way. Everyone who skis the route is eligible for the draw. The Segment will appear on your Strava as "SPNC March Challenge". Here's the Route: Start at the junction of where you can either take the dog loop or Cottontail. Take the dog loop to the start of the MLT. Continue up MLT to complete the February challenge course (Dec Challenge + Jan Challenge) but instead of stopping at the end of the January challenge, continue down MLT then turn onto Black Bear. At the bottom of Black Bear, cross Vista onto the twisty part of Cottontail, and stay on Cottontail to finish at the same point as where you started.
February Strava Challenge Congratulations to the February Challenge Random Draw Prize winners: Ann Carter, Ivor McMahen and Aaron Weiss who won a Bula products (hat, sunglasses and tech top). Many thanks to this month's sponsor: Sun Peaks Nordic Program through the generous donations of their Sponsors Bula and Swix Here's the February Challenge Route: Ski the December Challenge Route followed by the January Challenge Route. This is approximately 10 kms. Both routes start and finish in the same spot but you need to ski them in the right order for the segment to show on Strava.
January Strava Challenge Congratulations to the January Challenge Random Draw Prize winners: Mike Toews, Phil Youwe and Pete Stefanuto who won a headlight, a buff and ski ties. Many thanks to this month's sponsor: True Outdoors in Kamloops. Here's the January Challenge Route: (about 5 kms)
Start at the very top of Whiskey Jack (junction with McGillivray Lake Trail, opposite Moose Track).
Go down Whiskey Jack
At En Garde, turn immediately hard right onto Blue Grouse, (now going uphill)
Veer left off Blue Grouse onto Nut Hatch and continue all the way to Raven Return (NOT RAVEN RAMBLE) then turn right down Raven Return
At the end of Raven Return, where it joins the bottom of Raven Ramble, take a quick jog to the right to Sigge's Shortcut and then onto Otter Loop
Take Otter Loop all the way around to MLT (don't turn onto Great Grey as we did last time, so keep right at the first junction)
Turn left onto MLT and go downhill to the Whisky Jack junction where you started.
