The Team Destination Ski Challenge will be back for this season, starting in January 2024. Check back here closer to the time for more information.
(Here's the info on last year's challenge) The Destination Challenge is now complete! Thanks to Arlene and Naomi for putting this year's challenge together and congratulations to all the participants and to the two teams and three solos that made it to their respective destinations! Altogether, during the 8 weeks of the challenge the teams and solos logged an impressive total of 11,522 kms. Way to go everyone!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are the details of the 2023 Challenge: Our two destinations this year are Soldier Hollow in Utah, site of the 2002 Olympics (1785 kms), and for solos, the Whistler Olympic Park (383 km). Form teams of 5 and accumulate kilometers while adding bonus kilometers by taking part in weekly challenges. Solos are welcome! Log onto Facebook: Sun Peaks Nordic Facebook Page for information each week and to see how you stack up against the other teams or solos. Again this year: Teams and solos can add bonus kilometers by taking part in weekly challenges (see below).
Dates: Jan 9, 2023 - March 5, 2023 (8 weeks)
RULES:
A maximum of 5 on a team
Solos can enter and compete against other solo entrants.
Every team needs a name and a leader. Team leader collects their team km for the week on Sundays.
Team leaders report team kilometres and results of bonus challenges to Naomi each Sunday - email to naomismith@shaw.ca with your team name and total team kms for the week.
Every team member has to be a member of the Sun Peaks Nordic Club - JOIN HERE
No mileage for going up the chair but you can ski down Holy Cow as many times as you want.
No fat bikes, snowshoes, hiking or downhill skis - you must be on skinny skis for it to count
Record your kilometers to one decimal point
Just like last year, each week of the Challenge has a different (and increasingly challenging!) way to collect bonus kilometres!
HOW TO ENTER: Email Naomi at naomismith@shaw.ca with your team name and team members (or just your name if you're doing Individual). Include an email address for team leader. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
